Dear Colleagues -
The recent earthquake in Haiti has caused unimaginable suffering,
both for that nation's residents and for those with Haitian roots
or connectionsincluding a number of ATA members in the United
States and around the world.
ATA has just been informed of a way in which we as translators and
interpreters can contribute our professional expertise to the international
relief effort: a few days after the disaster, Translators Without Borders issued the following call for assistance:
Translators Without Borders (http://www.tsf-twb.org/), which does work
for Doctors Without borders/Medecins sans frontières and Medecins du
monde, currently has urgent needs for professional quality French to
English and English to French volunteer translators.
Yuliana Hernandez-Anfray, coordinator of Translators Without Borders, at
Translators and interpreters working to and from Haitian Kreyol would
be especially valuable.
The home page of the ATA website will continue to post aid and volunteer
information as it becomes available. See http://www.atanet.org/
Thank you for your help
